But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Is. 40:31)

Shared on perspective today at church. I shared on how the bible compares us to eagles in more than 30 places, and how this has a tremendous and powerful relevance to us as believers. During a time of molting, eagles will find a secluded valley and just sit there for hours, even days with their heads bowed down - no hope, no strength. Its feathers fall out and it can no longer soar to the heights. Its condition is that of despair, sitting on the floor of the valley. Notwithstanding its environment and circumstances, it lives out of an internal reality, a sense of destiny, if you will, that demands fulfillment - it has been born to soar! Mature eagles then circle the eagle that is molting, and drop food for it to eat. This process actually causes the eagle’s strength to be renewed and when the plumage has grown it can once again soar to the heights.

When we go through times of "molting" we can live out of our circumstances, or we can live out of our destiny. It all depends if our focus is on who we are, or where we are. If we live out of our destiny, it will not matter where we are - if we live our of our circumstances, it will not matter who we are.
