Elijah prayed……..

by John Baw on July 18, 2006

Cloud“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit”. (James 5:17-18)

Elijah prays….and heavenly realities shift in response to this. He knew that through prayer, the barren land could be made to give fruit. What needs to shift in your circle of influence? What is your “barren land”? The bible says that all things are yours. This includes the “heavens”, the spiritual places of authority that rule over your current natural reality. The “heavens” are refered to symbolically in the scriptures to reflect conditions of favour and blessing, or conditions of barrenness depending on whether our “heavens” are closed or open.

Elijah shifted heavenly realities that were affecting his earthly environment – He shifted this through prayer. Prayer is not a discipline, it is not a “spiritual exercise” it is a love language that enables you to enter into close friendship and intimacy with God. It is from this place of intimacy with God that you can look into the heavenly realm and shift natural circumstances based on what you see as being normal in heaven. Dear friend, before complaining about your circumstances, have you tried shifting them?
