iPod Worship

iPODCreativity in worship has arrived. Or better said….desperate times call for desperate measures. We (still) do not have a worship team. We are seeing people warming up to using their God-given talents in worshiping God. It is not that we do not have worshipers in our midst, it is likewise not that we do not have musicians among us – quite the opposite! What I am seeing is that as a young fellowship different ones are at different places in their relationships with God, with each other, and even with themselves. My guess is that God is doing something sweet in their hearts, and so they will flow into their calling and gifting in our context at the right time.

For now, worship is just THE focus of our lives! We choose to worship HIM with hearts overflowing with extravagant love and gratefulness to HIM and with any and all resources that we have at our disposal. For us this takes an interesting form…….In place of a worship team, we have an iPod…. seriously. We hook this up to a sound system, and have hundreds of English and Spanish worship and praise songs streaming from there. We also use an overhead projector with a laptop and have the lyrics up on a screen.

Not every day you get to worship with the best worship leaders leading you…..albeit through an iPod. Beats A Capella any day – what with our voices?….trust me on this (let the reader understand).

We did this in a church plant I was a part of. But a worship team is really only a person and a guitar or keyboard. The transition is important and not really that hard. I am glad that you have worshipers none the less.

Thanks for that Carl. Those who are musicians in our small church have a real worshipper’s heart - and for me that is the key. You can get talent, but it is more important to get HEART. These guys have that in good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over :)
