Are you aiming for it rather than him?

We crave stuff. We desire different things, and we direct the focus of our efforts to attain what we desire. Often this is imported into our walk of faith. And let me say first-off that this is good. Desire is what creates spiritual hunger that motivates us to press-in for more. It is the object of our desire that deserves scrutiny. Are we pressing-in in prayer for an “it”? We pray for “stuff” - healings, giftings, power, anointing, ministry, salvations and such like. The object of my desire has recently been stirred to pray for “Him” rather than “it”. When intimacy with God becomes our goal, then the other stuff, all our “its” flow from there as the result of our intimacy. In a marriage union, new life (fruit) is the result of intimacy – in the spirit, fruit and life are the result of the bride’s ‘intimacy’ with her beloved.
