Yesterday we had a cool meeting. Admittedly we were quite thin on the ground as several people either stayed in bed, had to cook their roast, or what have you. What is the world coming to? What if Jesus would have returned? They would have lost their flight on Rapture Airlines (link ).
Worship was awesome (For me it was at least) – I got the feeling that we were just hanging out with Jesus. Nothing spectacular, just sweet fellowship time with the King. It was a cool anointing.
I gave a talk on “River churches” out of Revelation 22 and Psalm 65. The main timeless gems of mystic wisdom to be gleaned form the talk are:
1. The river is full of water. This causes abundance as all the ridges are watered.
2. The tree of life only lives next to the river – must be rooted in the moist land beside the flow.
3. The river of God is “in the heavens” – That is where we are seated – but our minds are on the earth so we need to be transformed through the renewing of our minds and seek the things above (the river) not the things on the earth
4. River churches are full of joy – this is a great offence in many churches. It is apparently OK to be depressed, bitterness is also tolerated, sadness and hopelessness are assumed to come with the territory in many places, but don’t you ever get joyful, no way, we cannot have that in the church! Joy is an insult to the religious spirit.
We then celebrated communion together. We tend to celebrate this on the first Sunday of every month, and then after the service we order-in chicken and French fries and we have a fellowship meal together.
