Gary Oates: Open my eyes, Lord

1. The book: Normally I am a little averse to people lending me books to read. The reason for this is that my list of books to read is not a short one (Check out my “planned reading” on my blog library here). Nevertheless, every now and then a book comes around that one cannot ignore. This happened at my home group on Tuesday night when my good friend Diego held a copy of Gary Oates’ “Open my eyes Lord” and asked whether I wanted to read it. I think I snatched the book off his hands before he had time to blink :)

2. The conference: If the book is exciting, I think a Gary Oates conference will be off the hook! That is happening here, in two weeks’ time!!! Local church Bethel Christian Fellowship (link) is hosting a conference in Hotel Rocamar in La Linea, with Gary Oates as speaker. More details can be found at the Bethel website (link).

I went to a conference with Gary and Kathi at NDI in North Wales about a year ago. You’ll have a great time. They have this refreshing ministry style which is something like: we’re not going to lay hands on you or even pray over you, we’re going to encourage you to invite God and His Kingdom to touch you.

Be blessed. I know that you will be!

I just saw today that they would be in Gibralter and was wondering if you would be going to it. I am hoping to be able to get to sit under their ministry soon. Blessings!

Mark: Yes there is such an expectation in my heart for this conference. I am also very encouraged whenever ministries steer clear from hype etc and just let God be God in every situation. Apart from inviting the King and His Kingdom into people’s lives what6 else can we honestly do as ministries? At best we are just a midwife, making someone as comfortable as possible to encourage the birth of new life.

David: You bet I’ll be attending. I have taken time off work in order to not miss any of the sessions. Its not every day that we get ministries like Gary Oates visiting these parts. We are hungry, and wanting MORE!
