A must-read: Back2Front Evangelism

April 24, 2007 by John Baw

Mark at madetopraisehim has posted a wonderful post on evangelism. What he writes makes evangelism look more like Kingdom dynamics at work rather than pressure tactics for conversions.

Good News is powerful. Putting a smile on somebody’s face is powerful. Making the checkout girl’s day at the supermarket is powerful. Cutting your neighbour’s lawn with a cheery smile is powerful. Simple acts of kindness are powerful. Patricia King has a beautiful story of a prostitute who came to God because somebody once looked her in the eyes and smiled at her as she walked by on the street - she didn’t even stop or start a conversation. She just looked into the eyes of somebody who nobody else ever looks into the eyes of. It melted her heart, and let God in.

I really believe that what we’re doing when we operate in Good News is that we’re sweeping clean the second heaven over a person’s life so that they can experience the glory of God. God’s glory is His copious goodness. When we minister goodness, His glory starts to manifest. He draws all men unto himself. It’s not our job to convince people that He exists. It’s our job to remove obstacles to them seeing for themselves that He exists. Operating in Good News is intercession. Operating in Good News is spiritual warfare. Our ministry is reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18). His ministry, not ours, is conviction (John 16:7-11).

His post is a must-read.
