It’s you and Me, You and Me! Get it?

Every day it happens. I try to ignore it. But it gives me a little stab in the back of my eye every time I hear it. Really smart people, people who can explain the impact of tax abatements on earnings per share going forward, who can discern how internet revenues will play out in the coming decade, who can shoot craps or guide investments with aplomb, don’t know the difference between I and me. Does it matter? Should it matter? I don’t know. It just seems to matter to me.

Quoted from: When smart people use bad grammar

I have found a cause! If only I had a dime for every time that I have heard things like, “Jesus died for you and I” ! ! ! ! I love the fact that Jesus died for me, but it really irks me to read/hear: “you and I”. It’s you and me….you and me…..you and me….get it?

Call me a grammatical snob if you wish, but I have to take a last stand on this issue before modern nuances engulf our pure language with grammatical garbage.

Postmodern sensitivities aside, this may be our last bastion of traditional English - a hill worth fighting for. Who will follow me? Who will join the legions of brave didactic warriors? Lest, should we turn a blind eye, ….. IMHO da english will be changed 4eva & twill be 2 l8 2 do nofing bout it…LOL!

No, No, not on my watch!

  1. I’m wiff ya on dis one! “YOU & I” know it’s “He died for YOU & ME”. Now I’ve FINISHED my statement. I’m not “DONE.” (But I digress!) Hope it’s not the summer heat that’s “AFFECTED” your head, but that your “DIDACTICISM” will “EFFECT” a proper result in your readers….or whateva!!! Have a good one. (don’t you hate THAT expression too?”
