CREATORS OF CULTURE
July 30, 2007 by John Baw

In “Evangelicals seek role as ‘creators of culture’”, MSNBC report on how once art-wary evangelicals are now seeking to impact and spearhead popular culture rather than producing christianeze art for Christians. This article is so encouraging. It rightly points to the fact that the Church is supposed to be at the forefront of culture, invading its “mountains of influence” and leading the way in the arts, media, and other fields. (HT: Scott Hodge for article)
The article is highly recommended, and it leads on from what I have been reading in Dreaming with God. Shawn Boltz has something going along these same lines in Expression58 where a faith revolution is combined with arts renaissance and social justice. Awesome stuff! Their Love Revolution eMagazine also features articles, prophecies, art, and prophetic words from their team and extended family. Isn’t this where the rest of the Church should be at?

Dreaming with God: Secrets to redesigning your world through God’s creative flow (Bill Johnson)
Bill Johnson does a brilliant job of expounding these truths in by most recent read, “Dreaming with God” - a must-read for all those who have the cry that the Body of Christ should be a city set on a hill, rather than a ghetto for the perpetuation of irrelevance.

yeah, we are created to be the city where people want in, not the ghetto that people want to ignore that it exists.
@David: right-on David. How can Jesus be the DESIRE of the nations, and yet his body be something un-desirable? Something needs to change.
