Aaron is sitting on the sofa, , drawing.
Dad: “What are you drawing baby?”
Aaron: “I don’t know.”
Wow. Creativity for me is the means to an end (at the best of times). I choose to be creative in order to arrive at a finished product. A child is creative because for him, creativity IS the finished product, the end in itself. To creatively launch out on something, embracing the mystery of not knowing what the end product will look like is childlike, and Kingdom-like.
Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. - Mark 10:13-16
“Mature” adults need to see the appropriateness and safety of the ‘end’ before they embark on something - children will take the risk of embracing the unknown.

Hmm. How many times have I heard people talking about “enjoying the journey” - but we still want to know the journey’s destination don’t we? We need to have faith in a destination we can’t fully see. Enough to get on with enjoying the journey, unsure as to exactly how it will unfold, but trusting in our “spirit guide” Holy Spirit.
Maybe part of Aaron’s joy in creativity with an unclear destination, is the the love, security, and trust that he receives from his daddy?
BTW I’m interested in what you’ve been writing over the last wee while about avoiding burn-out. I came awful close before my recent holiday and was really surprised at how it crept up on me. I’m re-evaluating what’s important right now, and seeking the courage to drop what needs to be dropped (with the realisation that some of my security is misplaced in some of those things).
I can feel the Anointing of the HOLY Spirit flowing through your sons and the POWER of your Prayers of Consecration for and over your sons - a creative miracle in itself.
@Mark H: Right-on Bro.! You certainly hit a point when you say that resting secure in the Father’s love is absolutely critical in being able to embrace the mystery of our journey with the Holy Spirit.
About the burnout deal. I have figured out that in its essence burnout is all about pouring out more than you pour in. It certainly creeps up on you unawares! I have made a decission to pour in more than I pour out. Taking heed of yourself (first) is the only way of taking heed of the flock (Second) - Acts 20:28. A teaching that literaaly “saved my life” was Bill Johnson’s “Stregnthen yourself in the Lord”. I cannot recommed this teaching to enough people. EVERYONE involved in ministry should really have that teaching and really digest it. It is available in CD (And now also in book form) from Bethel, Redding, CA, USA. Bless you Bro.
@Mark D: Thank you for your encouragement Bro.
Thanks for the heads-up on Bill’s book
